AutoSummary Overview

Introduction

Use AutoSummary to:

  • Insert a complete statement (comment) into a Findings control.
  • Select an entry from a drop-down list.
  • Modify specific data instances for a current study.

AutoSummary routines are a set of rules that produce comments or modifications to data instances based on data contained within a report. Synapse adds these predefined comments, list selections, and text strings to the applicable fields and controls based on the data contained within a report.

AutoSummary Example

Use an AutoSummary routine to insert the comment Ejection Fraction is significantly decreased into the report Diagnostic Findings section, if a numeric value of 20 - 30% has been entered or imported into the data element Ejection Fraction within the measurements section of the report.

Additional Information

AutoSummary routines are configured for each report definition and are assigned to a specific reporting workflow. Multiple workflows can exist for a report definition and multiple AutoSummary routines can be specified for each workflow.

AutoSummary is site configurable. See your System Administrator for more information.

AutoSummary might not be available for all tiers in a report, depending on the report configuration.

Note:

  • Comments and data instances can be linked and treated as a grouped comment. See your System Administrator for more information.
  • When you delete a comment that was added to a report as part of a grouping within an AutoSummary Rule, all data instances and comments that were grouped with it are also deleted.
  • If you modify a grouped comment but did not delete the comment, the modified comment remains in the report, but Synapse deletes all of the other data instances and comments that were grouped with the modified comment from the report.
  • Comments and data instances that belong to other groups remain unaffected.
