Adding Invasive Diagram Treatments

Introduction

You can import data from a hemodynamic system, if available, to include treatments that might have been attempted during an angiographic procedure for invasive diagrams. When imported, Synapse lists treatments in the Treatment section of the properties panel for their respective lesions.

You can edit or manually enter imported treatment properties and new treatment data in the Treatments section of the properties panel.

Note:

When working with imported treatment data, you should always review the data to verify that Synapse imported the data into the correct lesion on the vascular diagram.

Steps

  1. Select the lesion in the coronary vessel diagram that received treatment.
  2. Click Add Treatment to open the Add Treatment dialog box.
  3. From the drop-down list, select a treatment type and click OK. A tabbed group of fields is added to the Treatments section of the properties panel.

Note:

Some treatments do not include data on Attempts depending on site configuration. See your System Administrator.

  1. Update the Treatments tab to add one or more treatments.

    Treatment Fields

    Description

    Type

    • Select a treatment type from the drop-down list, such as a stent or stent graft.
    • Click OK.

    Primary Treatment

    • If there are multiple treatments being performed on the current lesion, select Yes or No to indicate this treatment as the primary treatment.

    Successful

    • Click Yes or No to indicate whether the treatment was successful.

    Perforated

    • Click Yes or No to indicate whether a perforation occurred as a result of the treatment.

    Timestamp

    • Click Clock and select a time from the drop-down list to indicate the time that the treatment was attempted. The time in the list displays in 30-minute increments.
    • To change either the hour or the minutes, select the time and either enter a new or use the up-arrow or down-arrow to adjust the time forwards or backwards.
  2. To add additional treatments for the current lesion, repeat steps 3 and 4.
  3. Click Add Attempts to add additional attempt information.
When you enter multiple attempts, Synapse identifies additional attempts by a sequential number in the attempts label.

Results

The Treatments and Attempts properties are hierarchical. If you document multiple treatments, each treatment type displays an Attempts tab.

Treatments that Synapse imports from a hemodynamic system display in the same tabbed interface within the Treatments section of the properties panel. When available, Synapse imports the properties associated with each Treatment and Attempt and the Inventory used for each treatment into their respective properties.

  • When importing a treatment, the vessel diagram displays default pre-treatment values of 70% stenosis and TIMI Flow of 3 and post-treatment values of 0% stenosis and TIMI Flow of 3 if no imported values are present for stenosis and TIMI Flow.
  • When manually entering a treatment for a lesion on a coronary vessel diagram, the system defaults the lesion's post-stenosis value to 0% and post-treatment TIMI Flow value to 3.
  • Adding a treatment to an existing lesion does not affect the pre-stenosis or pre-treatment TIMI Flow values. The post-stenosis value of 0% and the post-treatment TIMI Flow value of 3 are added.
