Desktop Agent Overview

Introduction

The primary purpose of the Desktop Agent is to integrate third-party applications, such as dictation programs, with Synapse. The Desktop Agent provides integration between Synapse web pages and your workstation.  

Note:

The Desktop Agent will not launch if the Synapse Viewer, Worklist, or PowerJacket are already opened in another tab. To launch the Desktop Agent, first close any instances of Synapse Viewer, Worklist, or PowerJacket.

The Synapse Desktop Agent allows you to do the following:

Contact your System Administrator to install and configure the Desktop Agent. After upgrading Synapse, always upgrade the Desktop Agent to the latest version.

Desktop or Desktop Tool Tray

  • Ready to connect Desktop Agent icon indicates that the Desktop Agent is ready to connect to the Worklist, PowerJacket, or Viewer.
  • Double-click to open Synapse and the Desktop Agent.

Desktop Tool Tray

  • Disconnected Desktop Agent icon indicates that the Desktop Agent cannot connect to Worklist, PowerJacket, or Viewer.

Desktop Tool Tray

  • Active Desktop Agent icon indicates that the Desktop Agent is connected to the Worklist, PowerJacket, or Viewer.
