Exporting DICOM to Media
Introduction
Use the Exporting DICOM to Media feature to create a DICOM fileset to transfer studies to an optical disc, a drive, or a USB device such as a thumb drive (memory stick).
Note: |
To avoid workstation performance issues, do not copy the media fileset to the root directory (C:\).
|
To transfer images from multiple patients, select the Anonymize patient information option:
- The patient information anonymization process does not anonymize burned annotations or overlays consisting of burned annotations.
- Anonymization is valid only within any one given media fileset.
Note: |
The Exporting DICOM to Media feature uses the DD MMM YYYY date format where DD and YYYY are numeric values and MMM is the month. The Month is translated based on the current language, as specified in the Desktop Agent. |
Prerequisites
You must have the DICOM Transfer privilege to use this feature.
To use this feature, Synapse must be launched through the Desktop Agent. See Opening Synapse from the Desktop Agent Icon.
Steps
- Open the All Studies Worklist and select one or more studies.
- Right-click and select DICOM Transfer > To Media. The DICOM Transfer - to Media page displays.
- Select from the options below and click Start. The transfer status displays.

Choose this option |
---|---|
Copy Fuji DX and third-party DX For Processing images to media in their For Processing form. |
Keep as DX For Processing |
Convert Fuji DX For Processing images to For Presentation images before copying to media. (This is the default option for Fuji DX For Processing images.) Note: Synapse cannot convert third-party DX For Processing images. Images are copied to media in their For Processing form. |
Convert to DX For Presentation |
Copy Fuji MG and third-party MG For Processing images to media in their native For Processing form. |
Keep as MG For Processing |
Convert Fuji MG For Processing images to MG For Presentation images before copying to media. (This is the default option for Fuji MG For Processing images.) Note: Synapse cannot convert third-party MG For Processing images. Images are copied to media in their native For Processing form. |
Convert to MG For Presentation |
Record data to an optical disc. Data is always recorded to the root of the optical disc. If you use a rewritable optical disc, any existing content on the disc is deleted as part of the recording process. A prompt displays for you to verify that you want to delete the content. (This is the default option.) |
Record to optical disc |
Select a drive letter for the fileset copy destination. The Select Drive and Create DICOM compliant fileset [DICOMDIR in root] options are enabled. |
Copy to local file system |
Copy the fileset to the root directory of the selected drive. The root directory is the fileset root. If you do not select this option, Synapse copies the fileset to \SynapseMediaSets\SynYYYYMMDDHHMMSS. (This is the default option.) |
Create DICOM compliant fileset |
Anonymize the information in the DICOM header for all of the images that are copied. Note:
|
Anonymize patient information |
Copy the fileset to media using the stored as-is compression instead of completely recompressing the entire study. |
Create fileset as-is |
Decompress images. Synapse generates all images in the media fileset that contain pixel data as uncompressed, rather than JPEG Lossless. |
Decompress images to LEE format |
Results
When Synapse completes the transfer, the status changes from Pending to Success; the suggested label for the media displays and the optical disc, if applicable, will be ejected from the recorder.
