Skipping Studies

Introduction

If you have dictation privileges, you have the option of using the F9 workflow while reading unread studies. The F9 key functionality gives you the ability to skip and close the currently displayed study regardless of the study status.

Note:

Prior to using the F9 workflow, be sure to configure your workflow settings. See Configuring Workflow Settings.

Prerequisites

  • You must have dictation privileges. Please review the safety notice concerning third-party dictation systems.
  • If you have not already done so, be sure to configure your dictation and workflow settings.

Steps

  1. Open a Worklist.
  2. Open a study.
  3. To skip a study displayed on the screen , press F9 or click Skip Study  on the Viewer toolbar.

Results

When you press F9:

  • The study now at the top of the Worklist opens (if you chose this option when you set up your workflow preferences).
  • The status of the skipped study remains unchanged and will remain skipped until your next session or until you reach the end of the unread studylist from which you are working.

Note:

  • If you skip studies (F9) or choose to not view studies that are reserved by another user, an alert will appear when you reach the end of the list that you are working from, to let you know that any remaining studies are either reserved by another user or previously viewed.
  • In Collection folders that contain remote studies only, pressing F8 or F9 (to dictate or skip a study) does not open the next unread study. Instead, the following message displays: There are no unprocessed studies in the Collection folder.
  • In Collection folders that contain both home and remote studies, pressing F8 or F9 (to dictate or skip a study) opens the next home study.
