Using ICD Controls

Introduction

Use the ICD control to capture pre-procedure and post-procedure indications and their corresponding ICD codes in a clinical report. You can either manually add text or select an ICD code from a drop-down list. You cannot add more than one empty row.

Synapse supports displaying the following ICD information in an Advanced Reporting (AR) report:

  • Description only
  • Code and Description

Steps

  1. In the Indications report section, click Add New. Synapse adds a new row.
  2. Do one of the following:
  3. If you want to do this...

    Choose this option...

    Manually insert an ICD description and optionally add a code.

    • Enter text in the text field.
    • Press Enter to add the free text.
    • Note: Synapse does not add free text entries to the ICD list.

    Select an existing ICD code and description.

    • Type at least two characters to display a list of potential matches.
    • Select an ICD code or description from the drop-down list. Synapse automatically populates the code and description columns.

    Remove a row.

    • Click Delete in the row that you want to remove.

Results

Synapse converts manually entered ICD codes into uppercase.
