Accessing Synapse VNA Studies in PowerJacket

Introduction

The option to access Synapse VNA studies is integrated through the Global Worklists. When you select a Global Worklist that has been configured to access the Synapse VNA, the studies that display in the Worklist are studies that have been archived to the VNA. Synapse VNA studies also use the COMMONVIEW feature to display studies in PowerJacket that meet the same patient-matching criteria, allowing you to view DICOM and Non-DICOM content.

Steps

  • If you have already selected a Synapse VNA as a datasource and opened a Synapse VNA study, select Open PowerJacket in the context menu to display the Synapse VNA studies for the patient you selected in the Worklist.

Note:

  • The COMMONVIEW feature is available in VNA mode, utilizing all of the same methods of data aggregation, but in a limited capacity, using only Patient Name or Patient ID, but only one can be used at a given time.
  • Warning: It is the user's responsibility to ensure that the study is associated with the intended patient.
  • Security access to other tenants is consistent with Synapse 5.3.0 COMMONVIEW behavior.
  • Use the Modality column header to sort PowerJacket results by DICOM Modality and Non-DICOM.
  • COMMONVIEW is not available in the case of VNA studies that do not include a patient name.

Results

PowerJacket displays the DICOM and Non-DICOM data for the selected study.

  • Note that auto-compare or other options for automatic comparisons are not available for DICOM and Non-DICOM data.
  • To manually compare DICOM and Non-DICOM data, you can drag and drop series into the Viewport.
  • The following thumbnail displays for Patient Level Non-DICOM data .

The following features are available when Synapse VNA mode is set in SWAT:

  • All Thumbnail Icon
  • Help Guide
  • Refresh button
  • Log in button (click and log out)
  • Settings button
  • Data on the top tab displays the following when available: Gender icon, Name, Age, DOB, and MRN

Limitations

Because Synapse VNA information originates from databases outside of the Synapse database, the following features, which are specific to Synapse PACS studies, are not available within PowerJacket while viewing a Synapse VNA study:

  • Information panes are not available
  • Context menu options: Change Status, Change Priority
  • Automated workflow (F8, F9)
  • Selected columns that do not apply to the Synapse VNA study. Some PowerJacket columns might not populate
