Configuring the Chrome Browser
Introduction
Careful attention to browser configuration settings helps to ensure the best Synapse performance. Default settings usually need modification. For example, default settings in Chrome can negatively affect your ability to open PowerJacket and Viewer windows at the same time, if pop-up blocker policies are applied to PowerJacket.

Configuring Basic Chrome
Steps
- On the Google Chrome toolbar, click Customize and control Google Chrome (three dots).
- Select Settings.
- Select Privacy and security.
- For PDF option, click Site Settings.
- Click the arrow to expand the Additional content settings section.
- Click PDF documents.
- Select Open PDFs in Chrome.
- Click the back arrow to return to the Site Settings.
- Click Pop-ups and redirects.

- Optional: To display your preferred language and date and time settings, do the following:
- Click the arrow to expand the Advanced section.
- Select the Languages section.
- Click Language.
- Click Add languages to add an additional language, if the preferred language is not available.
- Click the check box to select the preferred language.
- Click Add.
- Select the System section.
- Deselect Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed. Clearing this ensures that users are logged out when Chrome windows are closed.
- Close the Settings tab.
Configuring High Resolution Monitors
Steps
- Find the Google Chrome shortcut on your computer, or create one.
- Right-click the shortcut and click Properties to open the Google Chrome Properties page.
- Select the Compatibility tab.
- Click Change high DPI settings. A properties dialog box displays.
- Select Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: Application.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- Close and restart Google Chrome.
Configuring Sleep Mode Options
The Chrome browser provides several options that you can use to configure sleep time for your computer.
- Navigate to Settings > Performance.
- Choose the preferred sleep setting for your computer:

Select this option to turn on sleep mode for all tabs. This setting applies to all internet sites and pages, unless you select and configure the Always keep these sites active option. Note: Deselecting this option turns off sleep mode for all tabs. If this setting is off, you do not need to add the Synapse URL to the Always keep these sites active option. |

Disabling Profile Syncing
Disable Profile Syncing to have a specific profile with the expected settings and extensions that are required for Synapse.
