Configuring Overlay Settings

Introduction

Synapse automatically applies your selected Overlays settings to each study you open on your workstation. You can configure the following settings in the Overlay settings tab:

Steps

  1. Modify the following settings as needed.
  2. When you have finished configuring all settings, click Close to apply and save setting changes.

Overlays Settings

Setting

Description

Show text overlays

If enabled, Synapse displays text overlays when you open a study.

This setting is enabled by default.

Allow the text overlays to display while scrolling through images.

Select the Enable persist overlay mode check box.

Note:

  • This setting is disabled by default.
  • The DICOM headers are preloaded from the beginning of the series to the end and might take some time to load. If you scroll before the series is completely loaded, the images display overlays, but overlays might temporarily display "---" values.
  • This feature is not supported for the following:
    • Series: All Images and Bookmark
    • Modalities: US, XA, OT, ES, IVUS, IVOCT, OCT
    • Mouse settings: Dynamic Scroll-Standard and Dynamic Scroll-Precision
    • Viewports with more than 1000 images

Show bitmap overlays

If enabled, Synapse displays bitmap overlays (burned in bitmap overlays in the DICOM file) on images when you open a study or when you change to a different reading protocol.

This setting is enabled by default.

Font/Icon Size Settings

If you change the Font/Icon Size settings, it will impact how all text and icons display in the Viewer. This includes context menus, icon menus, and text overlays.

  • Select a font size from each of the drop-down lists:
    • X-Small
    • Small
    • Medium
    • Large
    • X-Large

Colors Settings

Setting

Description

Text overlay

Synapse applies the selected colors as you make selections from each of the drop-down lists.

  • Select an overlay color from each of the drop-down lists.
  • Click OK.

The RGB color values range is 0(00) to 255(FF).

Anonymous Items Settings

Setting

Description

Available

Use the left and right arrow keys to determine which items should be anonymized.

  • In the Available combo box, select all the items you want to anonymize.
    TIP: Press the CTRL key for multiple selections.
  • Click the right arrow to move your selections to the Selected combo box.
  • Click the left arrow to remove your selections from the Selected combo box.

Results

Synapse automatically saves any updated options and displays the following message in the bottom left corner of the window: Successfully saved.

Synapse displays the following message that you must take the following action to apply the settings: Refresh the Synapse browser window for settings to apply.

Synapse displays the image slider bar for a series that has 15 or more images regardless of whether you select Show text overlays or not.
