Displaying and Hiding Text Overlays
Introduction
You can anonymize patient information for a study contained in text overlays. By default, anonymization is disabled, and Synapse shows patient and study information on all images.
When you enable anonymization in text overlays using the context menu options noted in the table below, patient and study information is hidden in all of the images in each series of a study for the length of the session. Patient name is always hidden. You can configure which study information is hidden using the Overlay and Anonymization Items user settings. See Configuring Overlay Settings.
Steps
- Right-click the image to display a context menu.
- Do any of the following:
If you want to ...
Do this ...
Hide text overlays.
Clear Display Formats > Show Text Overlay.
Note: Text overlay templates can be customized to always display certain fields. See your System Administrator to make changes.
Anonymize patient information.
Select Tools >Anonymize Text Overlay.
Show annotations on an image such as an arrow.
Select Annotations > Show Annotations.
Show bitmap overlays (burned in bitmap overlays in the DICOM file) that appear on images when you open a study or when you change the reading protocol.
Select Display Formats > Show Bitmap Overlays.
Results
All designated patient information is anonymized for the duration of the session.
