Deleting a Synapse Chat Session

Introduction

Complete the steps below to delete a Synapse Chat session.

  • As a Synapse Chat owner, you can delete the entire chat session. Note that a Synapse Chat session can only be deleted by the user who initiated the chat.
  • As a Synapse Chat participant, you only have the option to remove the chat threads that you contribute to. Note that this action hides the chat session from your view only; other chat participants will still have access to the entire chat session.

Steps

  1. Click Synapse Chat . The Synapse Chat window displays.
  2. Hover over the chat session and do one of the following:

Complete these steps...

As the owner, delete the chat session you initiated.

  • Click Delete . The following dialog box displays: Are you sure you want to delete this chat thread for all participants?
  • Click Yes to delete the chat session.
  • Click No to close the dialog box and keep the chat session.

As a participant, delete the chat session that you are actively participating in.

  • Click Delete . The following dialog box displays: Are you sure you want to be removed from this chat thread?
  • Click Yes to be removed from the chat session.
  • Click No to remain active in the chat session.
  • Note: If you are participating in a chat session to which your role was added, you can only delete the current chat thread. Any additional responses to the chat session will display to you in the chat thread panel.

Note:

If you close Synapse Chat, you can open it from the Worklist, PowerJacket, or the Viewer.

Results

  • If the chat session was deleted by the chat session owner, the chat session is now deleted for all participants.
  • If the chat session was deleted by a participant, the chat session is no longer visible to the participant who chose to remove themselves from it, and that user's name no longer displays in the live chat area. The chat session is still available and visible to all other participants.
