MG Quadrant View

Introduction

Synapse displays the MG quadrant view by splitting the tight rectangular bounds that encompass the breast and associated tissue down the middle into four quadrants, as follows:

Quadrant

Right Breast

Left Breast

Description

Q1

Upper quadrant as displayed closest to the chest wall.

Q2

Upper quadrant as displayed farthest from the chest wall.

Q3

Lower quadrant as displayed farthest from the chest wall.

Q4

Lower quadrant as displayed closest to the chest wall.

By default, Synapse adds 1 cm of overlap to extend the MG quadrant view vertically and horizontally to ensure that you see all of the image.

You can also compare quadrants of the same breast from different studies (for example, prior and current), and of the same or differing lateralities (left or right). To properly compare quadrants, the breasts must be oriented and justified chest wall to chest wall within the image views. Images must also have common DICOM view code sequences and view modifier codes.

The current quadrant information for each of the views persists in the reading protocols.
