Near Match Selection Overview

Introduction

Near match allows you to use reading protocols that do not exactly match specific criteria. A series reading protocol or a default MG reading protocol contains a list of series that the reading protocol expects to use in a study or studies. If the open study does not contain exactly these series, near match allows the reading protocol to be used anyway.

When Synapse determines which reading protocol applies to a study or studies, the first set of reading protocols is an exact match if one exists. Synapse selects the next set of reading protocols as a near match.

Reading Protocol Hierarchy

Synapse uses the following hierarchy for reading protocol selection:

  • Exact match
  • Near match
  • Procedure match
  • Modality match
  • Generic match

Near match is available as an option. See your System Administrator for more information about near match.
