Performing Fetal Measurements

Introduction

For fetal-specific protocols, you can perform fetal measurements for up to three fetuses. Synapse groups all the measurements for a fetus in a dataset.

Synapse provides fetal age protocols if you enter the Last Menstrual Period (LMP) and Estimated Date of Confinement (EDC). See your System Administrator for site requirements on fetal protocols.

Prerequisites

  • Advanced Reporting (AR) is installed.
  • You are launching the Protocol Panel from an AR study with a procedure configured with a fetal echocardiogram analysis configuration.
  • The AR study is configured with an analysis configuration.

See Using Protocol Panel for additional information in the About This Task section.

Adding Fetal Measurements to a Study

Introduction

The Protocol Panel has Fetus A, Fetus B, and Fetus C tabs at the top of the Protocol Panel. Synapse displays a green underline for the current fetus that you can perform measurements on.

Steps

  1. From the Worklist page, select an AR study and double-click or select Open Viewer from the context menu.
  2. Click Protocol Panel on the Viewer toolbar to open the Protocol Panel.
  3. Choose Fetus A, Fetus B, or Fetus C at the top of the Protocol Panel for the fetus that you are measuring.
  4. Click a Protocol group in the Protocol Panel to display the protocol steps.
  5. Select a measurement option from the displayed list.
  6. Position the cursor in the image and draw the protocol measurement.
  7. Optional: If you have more than one fetus, click the next fetus on the Protocol Panel and add additional measurements.
  8. Optional: If you have multiple instances of a measurement, you can choose a specific measurement with the Instance Selector in the Protocol Panel. See Using Protocol Panel for Instance Selector options.

Results

Synapse displays the measurements at the bottom of the image and adds these measurements to the report if the report is configured to display these measurements.

Adding Additional Fetuses to a Study

Introduction

By default, a fetal echocardiogram report displays one fetus. You can add up to two additional fetuses. Only one Maternal Study Info tab exists whether you have one, two, or three fetuses.

Steps

  1. In the CRA report, click the Maternal Study Info tab.
  2. In the Maternal Gestational Status section, click the Fetus(s) imaged arrow to display the fetus list.
  3. Select Baby A and if there is more than one baby, select additional babies.
  4. Optional: In the Fetal Count box, type 1, 2, or 3.

Results

Synapse automatically completes following actions:

  • Adds a section for each fetus with measurement information to the Report Preview.
  • Adds to the Report Workspace additional tabs for each fetus with A, B, and C with the letter appended to each data entry control.
  • Refreshes the Viewer so you can add measurements in the study for the additional fetuses.
