Setting Worklist Permissions

Introduction

With appropriate permissions, you can use the Security feature found in the Worklist's context menu to grant or revoke visibility to a Worklist. Access can be established by role, individual user, or both. This feature is helpful in limiting the number of Worklists a user can see, making navigation easier. It is also useful in limiting visibility to a Worklist intended only for a specific group of users.

Steps

  1. Right-click the preferred Worklist to access the context menu.
  2. Click to select Set Permissions. The Security dialog box opens.
  3. Do one of the following:

If you want to do this...

Choose this option...

Grant or revoke access to an entire group of users, based on role.

Note: The Synapse role that is assigned to you is not available in the list. You cannot deny access based on your assigned role.

Example: If your assigned Synapse role is Administrator, the role of Administrator is not available as an option.

  • Start typing to select the appropriate user or role from the dialog box. Synapse matches the results as you type.

  • Optional: Click Show All to display any roles that should not be restricted.

Grant or revoke access to an individual.

Note:

  • Use this option when there are individuals who are exceptions to the group to which you want to grant or revoke access.
  • You can grant or revoke Worklist access to as many individuals as necessary, but only one at a time.
  • Start typing to select the appropriate role from the dialog box. Synapse matches the results as you type.
  • Place your cursor in the text field below the Users and Roles heading.
  • Note: User names display by login name in alphabetical order. Scroll to or type the last name you want to add.
  1. Select Allow or Deny.
  2. Click Save and Close if you are finished, or click Save to continue.

Note:

When a user double-clicks to open a thumbnail, the Series Viewer URL, by design, references the All Studies Worklist.

If you revoke permission to the All Studies Worklist, the affected user or users will lose access to the following Synapse functionality:

  • Opening Series Viewer from Series Picker or Thumbnails
  • Double-clicking to open Series Viewer from Worklist Thumbnails
  • Double-clicking to open Series Viewer from PowerJacket Thumbnails
  • Opening Series Viewer from the Worklist Series Picker (opened using the right-click context menu or ALT + left mouse click on study)
  • Opening Series Viewer from PowerJacket Series Picker (opened using the right-click context menu or ALT + left mouse click on study)

Results

If you have revoked access to a Worklist, that Worklist is no longer visible (in the Worklist panel) to the role or user.
