Carry Over Report Display Rules
Introduction
All Carry Over findings are highlighted in blue in the Workspace, and Synapse includes these findings in the Preview.
The following guidelines apply to carry over data:
- Synapse highlights the carry over findings in the report Workspace Findings controls to distinguish them from current findings for the current report.
- After Synapse carries over the comments, you can edit the findings comments. Double-click the text to manually enter text or re-select it from a placeholder pick list. If you edit a carried over findings comment, Synapse removes the blue highlight.
- Synapse adds the carry over findings to the bottom of the Findings list in the Workspace Findings control and appends the findings to the existing text in the corresponding section of the Report Preview.
- If the current and prior studies have the same DataDefinition and the DataInstance is present in the current study data, Synapse carries over the following placeholders:
- If the current and prior studies have the same DataDefinition but the DataInstance is NOT present in the current study data, Synapse populates the placeholders based on the following criteria:

Additional Information for Auto-Summary Comment Display Rules
Auto-summary has some additional display rules:
- Synapse does carry over auto-generated comments if these comments belong to a same report section.
- If Auto-Summary statements are linked to a Comment definition and are present in the current study, Synapse does not insert the carry over data in the findings control.
- Synapse marks the carried over Auto-Summary comments as Auto-Summary statements in the current report.
- If you run Auto-summary after carry over, Synapse updates or adds the placeholder DataInstances based on AutoSummary Scripts.
-
If Synapse populated an existing comments with carry-over data, Synapse highlights that comment as carry over.
