General User Settings

Introduction

You can configure the following settings in the General settings tab:

Steps

  1. Modify the following settings as needed.
  2. When you have finished configuring all settings, click Close to apply and save setting changes.

General Settings

In the General settings section, you can:

  • Choose a localization option for your Synapse workstation using the Language setting. Localization options vary and are determined by your System Administrator.
  • Enable the automatic logoff setting and change the timeout parameter your workstation uses to log you off automatically, or you can disable the feature to manually logoff.

Select the Auto option to use the language from the preferred language list in your browser settings. Or, select your preferred language option from the drop-down list. Options can include any of the following, based on your site's configuration:

  • Auto
  • English
  • Japanese
  • Spanish
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Polish
  • Turkish

Enable automatic logoff

Synapse logs you off automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity, using the default timeout value.

Optional: Enter a different timeout value in minutes.

This setting is enabled by default.

Note: When Synapse performs an automatic logoff, any window that has a browser prompt displayed will not be able to close automatically until the browser prompt is dismissed. You must click the Leave or Cancel button in the prompt.

Save Changes Settings

You can customize the way in which Synapse saves changes.

Save Changes

Select one of the following Save Changes options:

  • Prompt: Displays a message if you have unsaved CRA data or annotations in a study when you close a study. Synapse displays a prompt only if there are unsaved CRA data or annotations.
  • Do not prompt and save: Saves changes to CRA data and annotations in a study without displaying a message when you close a study.
  • Do not prompt and do not save: Ignores any unsaved changes to CRA data or annotations in a study without displaying a message.

Note:

  • When you close the Viewer, Synapse prompts you based on your Save Changes settings.
  • Synapse always displays current study information in the Save Prompt dialog box.

 

Note:

When you select Prompt for the Save Changes option, and you click the browser close button (X) in the Viewer, a prompt displays stating that you have unsaved changes.

  • You might see this prompt even if there are no unsaved CRA data or annotations if the Automatically Save Snapshot setting is enabled (see Configuring Image Display Settings).
  • If you click Leave, the browser closes the window without saving annotations.
  • If you click Cancel, the browser leaves the window open but does not automatically save annotations. Save the annotations manually (see Saving and Retrieving Annotations).

Automatic Logoff Save Changes Settings

You can choose to save or not save your changes when Synapse automatically logs you off.

Automatic Logoff Save Changes

Select one of the following Automatic Logoff Save Changes options:

  • Save:Synapse saves your CRA data or annotations changes to a study before automatic logoff occurs.
  • Do not save: Synapse does save your changes to a study before automatic logoff occurs. (default)

Note:

The above settings apply to CRA data, measurements, and annotations.

Results

Synapse automatically saves any updated options and displays the following message in the bottom left corner of the window: Successfully saved.

Synapse displays the following message that you must take the following action to apply the settings: Refresh the Synapse browser window for settings to apply.

Time Format

Click the General tab to display the Time Format dialog box. Your selected format displays for each Synapse field that displays time.

  • Settings selected in User mode display the selected format for the individual user.
  • Settings selected in Administrator mode display the selected format for the Administrator's organization.
  • User-selected options override the display selections designated by the Administrator.

Time Format

Select one of the following Time Format options:

  • System Default: Displays the local time using the current default configuration. This option allows you to remove your specific time format selection and revert to the default value.
    Note: The default configuration is either a system-wide or role-based format set by the System Administrator or is simply the factory default.
  • 12-Hour (3:00:00 PM): Displays the local time in 12-hour format.
  • 24-Hour (15:00:00). Displays the time in 24-hour military time.

Click Close to save and apply your selection.

Date, Time, Clock, and Number Formats

The browser language (Region) setting determines the format that Synapse uses in the date, time, clock, and number fields.
