Reference Lines and Localizers

Introduction

CT, PT, and MR  modalities use base images called localizers. The localizer (for example, head, torso, or leg) displays a summary image used for planning the acquisition of series within a study and also shows the cross-reference lines of the selected series and images. If you select the localizer (or scouts), the reference lines of the localizer display on the other reference series.

MR and Reference Lines

For MR studies, each non-selected reference series displays the reference lines of the selected series. If the images cannot be cross-referenced (the planes of images are parallel with each other), there are no reference lines.

Note:

The terms localizer and scout are used interchangeably throughout this documentation.
