Saving Snapshots

Introduction

Synapse uses Snapshot to save and restore display states for images in studies. Snapshots represent the state of the study at the date and time it was taken. This includes available annotations, series, and other information present at the date and time the snapshot was saved.

Whether initiated automatically or manually, Snapshot saves image information such as the following:

  • Annotations
  • Scroll position
  • Comparisons, if available
  • Slab thickness
  • Image orientation
  • Window level
  • Image presets
  • Zoom and pan settings
  • Page layout

This feature is especially useful for interruption workflow.

Note:

Snapshots might display differently with different Synapse versions.

You can save Snapshots in two different ways:

  • User-created Snapshots are stored by default in the My Collections folder, but you also have the option of storing them in custom Collections folders that you create.
  • Auto-created Snapshots, which are configured in User Settings, save the image information for when you open the study again.

The Snapshot icon is available in Worklists, Collections, and in the Viewer toolbar.

Note:

If you enable Automatically save Snapshot in User Settings and you have made a change to the study such as changing the window level, Synapse displays an asterisk (*) in the Snapshot drop down to indicate that Synapse will save a Snapshot when you close the study.

If you are working in the Viewer, you have the option to save Snapshots from a remote Synapse datasource (a Global Worklist) to a Collections folder.

Note:

  • If you have set the Snapshot User Settings to automatically save a Snapshot, Synapse automatically saves a Snapshot of a study when you close.
  • When there is no image or layout change, Synapse does not save a Snapshot.
  • If you take a Snapshot and then more series arrive for the study, the Snapshot will not contain the newly arrived series.
