Adding a Freehand ROI on an Image
Introduction
Use the Freehand ROI option to draw to highlight a region of interest on an image. Freehand shapes measure arbitrary points on an image.
Steps
- Right-click the image to display a context menu.
- Select Annotations > Freehand ROI.
- Click and drag to create a freehand ROI.
- Do one of the following:
If you want to ...
Do this ...
Enclose the freehand ROI shape.
Close the ROI shape by joining the end point of the shape to the starting point.
Create a freehand line.
Release the mouse button when you are finished drawing the freehand line. The length of the line displays.

When you slowly create a freehand ROI, the length measurement might be longer because Synapse counts the micro mouse movements. |
Results
Synapse displays ROI measurements as defined in the Annotations panel in User Settings. See Configuring Annotations Settings.
Additional Options
Use one of the following options to create a freehand ROI:
- Click Freehand ROI on the icon menu.
- Press F + left-click to activate a freehand ROI with a keyboard shortcut.
