Image Paging and Scrolling Overview

Introduction

Synapse organizes images using a page concept. The number of total pages is the number of images divided by the upcount. For example, if you have eight images in a series and the upcount is four, you will have two pages. See Tile or Upcount Overview for more information.

If all the images of a study do not fit within the selected upcount, you can scroll or page through the images. Synapse addresses two different scrolling methods:

  • Scrolling through a set of images to see all the images in that set
  • Scrolling quickly through the set to find the image or anatomy of interest

The direction of movement in the Viewer corresponds to the direction of the mouse movement or keyboard directional keys.

Note:

Scrolling quickly can result in some images not being displayed or skipped.

Synapse provides the following paging and scrolling options for viewing images:

Feature

Image Skipping

Mouse wheel

Should not skip images.

Note:

  • The scroll+ mouse wheel option, which is disabled by default, ensures that scrolling is smooth and continuous between mouse wheel rolls. This allows for a better consistent viewing speed for image scrolling. See Configuring Mouse Settings.
  • The continuous scroll effect of this feature might be helpful in lower-performance scenarios in which the next image is not immediately available.
