Opening a Synapse Chat Session

Introduction

A blue alert displays on indicating that you have a new chat message waiting for you.

Depending on how the Synapse Chat feature has been configured, the Chat icon displays an alert (audible, flashing, color) indicating that you have a new chat message waiting for you.

Steps

  1. Click Synapse Chat . The Synapse Chat window displays. The latest chat thread displays at the top of the chat window, displaying the chat session creator, along with the time and date the chat session was created. A blue dot on the Synapse Chat icon indicates a new, unread chat.
  2. Click the most recent chat thread at the top of the chat window to display the contents on the right side of the window.
  3. Place your cursor in the Type reply text box. When you are finished typing, click Send or press enter to add your response to the chat thread. Your text displays in the thread along with the time and date you added it. Chat threads update automatically with the latest content.
  4. Click the X in the top right of the window to close the active chat window.

Note:

  • If you close Synapse Chat, you can open it from the Worklist, PowerJacket, or the Viewer.
  • If you were added to the chat session by your role and respond to a message, your name displays in the chat panel next to your comment.
  • The text No Messages displays on the left side of the Synapse Chat window if there are no chat messages for you or you have deleted all of the chat messages that you participated in.
