Measuring Slope

Introduction

Use the Slope option to calculate acceleration or deceleration by measuring the rate of change of a velocity profile using two points in a Doppler or M-Mode ultrasound image. The time component is calculated as the amount of time it takes for the velocity to go back to the baseline.

Steps

  1. Right-click the image to display a context menu.
  2. Select Annotations > Slope.
  3. Place the cursor in the image at the position where you want to begin drawing the Slope annotation.
  4. Click once to begin the Slope annotation.
  5. Click again to complete the annotation.
  6. Optional: After you create a Slope annotation, you can click and drag the control points to reposition them and move or delete the annotation. See Manipulating Annotations.

Results

As you complete a Slope annotation, Synapse displays the slope, time, and velocity annotations in an ordered list in the Results overlay. Hover over a measurement in the Results overlay to highlight the annotations in the image.
