Measuring Volume

Introduction

Use the Volume option to measure the volume for a set of points that form an enclosed area of a given length or within perpendicular areas.

Steps

  1. Right-click the image to display a context menu.
  2. Select Annotations > Volume.
  3. Place the cursor inside the image at the position where you want to begin drawing the annotation.
  4. Click once to begin drawing the annotation. The control points display as circles.
  5. Click again to complete the annotation. The Volume annotation automatically encloses the measurement drawing.
  6. Optional: After you create a Volume annotation, you can delete the annotation or click and drag the control points to reposition them, but you cannot move the Volume annotation. See Manipulating Annotations.

Results

As you complete the annotation, Synapse displays the Volume, Area, and Length annotation values in an ordered list in the Results overlay. Hover over an annotation in the Results overlay to highlight the annotation in the image.

For Protocol measurements, the Viewer sends the Volume and the secondary values included in the Protocols list.

Additional Options

Click Volume on the icon menu.
